J A N E S S A P I R E S
Hey, I'm Janessa! Married to Keanu, and momma to our two sweet little girls.
Photography is something I've loved since I was young, and I feel pretty blessed that I get to do it for other people as a 'day-job'.
I shot my first wedding a few months after graduating high-school, and have so enjoyed getting to capture many special people and events over these past 10+ years. I'm grateful for every opportunity I've been given to create meaningful photos for families, couples, and individuals. I love the creative outlet that photography provides for me in the midst of life raising our young family. Thank you for considering trusting me with the privilege of giving you some beautiful images to treasure of whichever season you may find yourself in! They will be priceless archives of memories you can have to reflect back on in the years to come.
I hope this page will be able to provide a bit more of a look into who I am, and what to expect if you choose to work with me as your photographer!
FAVOURITE THINGS / / THINGS I LOVE
Café dates with my little fam.
Vanilla flavoured/scented anything.
Traveling to new places.
Drinking tea. Any time of day!
Going for walks in the sunshine.
Listening to worship music by myself in the car.
Waking up in the morning to fresh snow on the ground!
Being by the ocean.
Visiting cute shops around the city.
Making a restaurant-worthy meal.
Singing my babies to sleep at the end of the day.
MY SHOOTING STYLE
I like creating a laid-back, lifestyle feel for your session, combined with a little bit of more intentional portraiture and 'posed' shots. The most important thing is to help you feel comfortable and be able to relax, and enjoy yourself....! (Even if you think you're not a "picture person"!)
Photojournalism is a word some of you may be familiar with - it basically means using images to tell a story. I hope to be able to document memories and emotions in a way that feels spontaneous and fun, and not forced. You should feel like your photos represent you when you look at them. I always make it my goal to take pictures that people love of themselves, that make them feel like who they are is reflected and captured in the image.
A photograph is a beautiful way to relive a day in time. Whether it be with your family, your significant other, or even just by yourself, I endeavour to have your photos come across as real, warm, and genuine - and a delight for you to look at and share with others. My aim is that your pictures can narrate a storyline for them to feel part of when they view them.
